The Wherry Block was built in 1887. It is a two-story building built in the Victorian Commercial architectural style, with commercial space and apartments above. The Wherry Block is on the National Register of Historic Buildings.
NDC extensively renovated the Wherry Block (Wherry I) in 2005, and developed two 1-story commercial buildings (Wherry II). Current tenants include: Child & Family Urban Ministries, City of Des Moines and a soon to be opened pizzeria being developed by Sam Auen, the owner of Tacopocalypse.
NDC also owns a landscaped lot to the north of Wherry II, which is being held for future development.
